There are two different techniques most commonly employed for printing corporate logo golf balls and other novelty golf ball prints.

The first, most common and more traditional printing method employed in the production of logo golf balls is called pad printing. Pad printing is actually a very well established printing technique and yet is still widely regarded as the best way to print onto the surface of a golf ball, for several reasons.

With pad printing, there are three important components, the pad (from which the process takes its name), ink and cliché.

The cliché is constructed from either steel or a hard wood polymer, and configured with the design etched less than 25 micrometres into it. This acts as a type of reservoir which holds the ink to be applied to your blank golf ball. The pad, which is usually silicone rubber, presses against the surface of the cliché, and then transfers the design from the cliché to the golf ball by pressing against it.

The printing method is in theory very simple, almost like a stamping process, however the results are consistent and assuming carried out professionally very hard wearing, which is of course important if you actually intend to play golf with your lovely new balls.

The second printing method which can also be employed in the production of corporate logo golf balls is digital printing. Digital printing is more versatile and flexible in the type of design which can be applied, however you will want to be sure that the printing company are using a specialist golf ball printing kit, and are using hard wearing oil based ink.

Even with every precaution taken, digital printing simply doesn’t produce results as long lasting as pad printing will do, so if you’re giving these as a corporate gift to clients to employees, then you will most likely not want to skimp on the printing process, or you could end up having your company logo disappearing from your clients balls after only a few rounds of golf. Remember it is quite literally your companies image at stake!
